There is much ado about the Titanic on this 110th anniversary of its destruction and the lives lost with it.
Here at the Aethereal Cat, we are not immune to that panoply but, we love cats. She was stationed on the Titanic’s sister ship, the Olympic until the former was to set sail.
Having just produced a litter of kittens, she took up her new home on board the White Star Line’s majestic new liner. Rumours and mythology give varying tales about her survival or death aboard that ship but the reality is, she did what a frightened cat would do and probably found a spot to hide herself and her kittens where she felt safe and thus perished.
ALAS! Today in History, April 14, 1912, Jenny and her brood lost their lives in the icy darkness of the North Atlantic.
Here at the Aethereal Cat, we hope she is resting in peace.
